     SCG Packaging recognizes the value of the environment and encourages other businesses to use biomass energy to reduce the consumption of coal and increase the value of the manufacturing process. This includes the addition of value to the plant’s bark from the forest plantation, which is the residue from the manufacturing process in the pulp mill that cannot be converted to wood pulp, by turning it into pallets for the production of biomass.

     The pelleting process begins with the grinding of eucalyptus bark from the forest plantation before heating it in the dryer at a temperature of 300 ° C. Use the bark as fuel to reduce the moisture in the wood from 60% to 15-20%. After shredding, put the bark into the pallet machine, a cylindrical device with 8 mm in diameter and 50 mm in length. Then load it in the 850 kg Jumbo Bag and store it in the warehouse for delivery.

 

     Currently, SCG Packaging has a pallet production capacity of 7,200 tons /year and within 5 years, it will rise to 20,000. The current customers are Thailand’s food industries that use pellets instead of coal to fuel steam boilers as they help reduce pollution from coal burning and costs of storing biomass fuels such as palm shell and biomass wood chips. Since they have higher calorific values per volume, fewer pellets are used to produce the equal amount of energy, thus less space is required for storage.
